ManyChat and Facebook Messaging Rules: Reduce Compliance Risks

Updated October 7, 2026.

Using an automation platform does not exempt a business from Facebook’s messaging rules. The goal is to communicate within the rules and respect the person’s request, not stay under an enforcement system’s radar. No checklist can guarantee that an account will never be restricted.

Check message eligibility

ManyChat’s current guidance explains the messaging windows and permitted message types for Meta channels. Do not assume an old contact can receive any future promotion. Review the exact channel, last interaction, message purpose, and available approved mechanism before enabling a follow-up.

Ordinary consent alone is not a universal override for platform restrictions. Do not misuse a utility category, message tag, or support exception to deliver promotional material. Follow the current provider instructions for the actual use case.

Deliver what was requested

If someone requests a guide or product answer, send that information clearly. Avoid misleading prompts, false urgency, or a sequence of unrelated offers. Frequency should reflect usefulness and user expectations, not a technique for making automated traffic look human.

Make stopping easy

Explain how people can stop messages and verify that the flow honors the request. Review opt-outs and complaints as signs that the experience may need correction. Do not reconnect or re-enroll people simply to bypass their choice.

Test delayed steps

A reply that is eligible immediately may not be eligible after a long delay. Inspect scheduled steps and recurring sequences. Test the behavior when a contact becomes ineligible, and make sure staff understand why a message was not sent. Avoid repeatedly retrying an intentionally blocked message.

Keep support separate from promotion

A human-support route should resolve the user’s issue, not create another marketing path. Tell users when staff are available. Keep sensitive complaints and unusual requests with the appropriate people. Do not use a support category as a disguise for an advertisement.

If an account is restricted

  1. Pause questionable outgoing automations.
  2. Read the exact notice in the affected Meta account.
  3. Identify the workflow, message type, and timing connected to the issue.
  4. Correct verified problems and keep a record of the changes.
  5. Use the official review or support route available to the account.
  6. Resume only workflows whose eligibility and behavior have been checked.

Do not create replacement accounts or use another tool to evade a restriction. An appeal is not guaranteed to succeed, and using ManyChat does not transfer responsibility for your content to the vendor.

Maintain a policy review record

Record the rule source, date checked, workflow owner, and reason each follow-up is permitted. Revisit the record when platform rules or available message types change. A cautious, documented process is more reliable than an old blog post promising a permanent loophole.
